Yesterday, at 6:00PM I saw my FOS Black-crowned Night-Heron in Bittersweet Park
in Greeley. None yet at our rookery in Glenmere Park. In Windsor at the large
Kodak pond we saw 3 male Cinnamon Teal among about 9 different species of
ducks.

Flushed a Black-Crowned Night Heron at Salisbury Equestrian Park 2:30PM on
Sunday 5 June 2011. He was hiding under the brush on the edge of the lake which
is to the east of the ball fields. When flushed he'd just fly to a new spot
along the shore. Adult. Great unobstructed views. N39 30.072, 10
I took a rare day out & was at Cherry Creek State Park from noon-1:30
yesterday, by the pond near the model airfield. A nice surprise was a
Black-crowned Night-Heron that made two brief appearances at the edge of the

heron walk into the pond where I live, wade out and then float in the water for
15 minutes or so. His wings for outstretched over the water.
I had some concerns that this was a suicidal gesture on the heron's pa
I did observe an entire flock of white-faced ibis (same order as night-herons:
Ciconiiformes) land in the center of a deep lake, joining a communal roost of
gulls. They seemed very uncomfortable and almost immediately took off again.

I believe it was the depth. They were attracted by the hordes of gulls. They
circled around the gull flock several times before landing. They probable were
hoping for a submerged sand bar.

I was surprised to find the Black-crowned Night-Heron this morning on
Sell's Lake and it was active, doing some feeding and catching some unknown
critter. It then flew off up the Arkansas River. I checked back there at
dusk and didn't see it but not sure if it has left or not. I did get a
