The Brant continues today at the ball field with about a whole lot of
Cackling Geese. I saw it at 8 this morning and others have reported it to

Today I birded from Broomfield n. to Loveland. Highlights were as follows
1) BLACK BRANT. Yesterday, I was alerted that a Brant had been reported
intermittently at L Loveland from 3-12 December. The observers did not post
their finds to COBIRDS, so I will respect their apparent
A Black Brant was seen this morning at Frederick Rec Area, same spot that the
Pink-footed Goose has been seen at of late

I’m currently looking at a Black Brant on the south side of Lake Arbor in
Jefferson County.
The bird is along the edge of the ice with many Canada and Cackling Geese.
Unfortunately all I’ve got with me is my phone so no pics. If anyone is
close with a good camera we’d love a shot t

There is a Black Brant on ice with Canada Geese on Jackson. When first seen
(from state park on w side) it was in a relatively small flock of Canadas (200
or so) but now is in middle of lake with shimmering heat waves and about 2000
Canada Geese. Also in state park:

Yesterday, 11/15/2011, Dave Leatherman found 2 Black Brant in Sheldon Lake
at City Park in Fort Collins, CO (Larimer County).
Tom and Mary France went over, found the birds right away, and got pictures
of them. They were very skittish of people and stayed in the middle of a few

Special thanks are owed to Bob Santangalo who pointed out the Black Brant
feeding (with several hundred white-cheeked geese) on the lawn at Ketring
Park to us this afternoon.
The brant is relatively tame but appeared ready to fly when several of the
white cheeked geese departed.

The Brant was seen in Gallup Park earlier this morning, but along with its
cohorts was spooked by a dog walker, and currently is on the west side of the
lake at Ketring Park.
