I went out today in hopes that the bad weather would have the Bohemian Waxwings would show up where they had been see before. We visited Cala Roja, lots of American Robins, several Western Bluebirds, Western Scrub-Jay, and Townsends Solitaires. Spring is in the air! The Robins were singing up a storm despite the wind and blowing snow. Then we moved down to Barrett Road about a 1/2 mile down the road in a dip where come juniper trees are next to the road, we saw many American Robins, a few Cedar Waxwings came in to eat Juniper Berries but were chased off by a jealous Townsends Solitaire. Later I saw a flock of about 40 Waxwings in the top of tree about 1000 feet off the road. I took some pictures but dismissed them as Cedar Waxwings with a Evening Grosbeak for company. After downloading my pictures this evening I saw that I had Bohemian Waxwings! Happy life bird to me! Debbie Barnes Colorado Springs.
