Dear Cobirders,
Before the snow, and before the rain, there was wind. I headed to
the south shore of Boulder Reservoir this afternoon in the hopes of
spotting a Murrelet (wrong type of weather system, but we're getting
close!), or a Loon, or a Long-tailed Duck. I found wind --- Beaufort
force 6, and few birds. A quick drive around to the north shore
actually provided shelter and yielded Western, Horned, Eared and Pied-
billed Grebes, a flock of at least 25 Long-billed Dowitchers, a flock
of Ring-billed Gulls with one juvenal plumaged Herring Gull and some
standard ducks (Anas defaulti). I packed up and left around 5:30 when
the wind-driven torrential downpour started. Maybe we'll get
something vagranty from this system...

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
