Hi all,
I thought I'd heard a hummingbird on Tuesday, but only heard it once and
couldn't confirm. I checked our records are these are the arrival dates
recorded:
2013: 4/24
2012: 4/23
2011: 4/30
2010: 4/23
2009: 4/24
2008: 4/23
2007: 4/16
2006: 4/14
2005: 4/15
2004: 4/17
2003: 4/22
2002: 4/16
2001: 4/26

Then yesterday (4/17) we got both sound an visual confirmation of the first
male broad tailed hummer at our house. I've noticed that they usually show
up here when the golden currants (Ribes aureum) start blooming, and sure
enough I saw my first plants in bloom in Fort Collins yesterday morning. I
thought at first the birds were early, but looking at the 10+ year pattern
above, it appears they're right on schedule.
