Hello all,
In his recent post about Cassin’s Sparrow breeding in Boulder County, Christian Nunes referred to the Hugh and Urling Kingery seeking to confirm nesting in Douglas Co. The population referred to is at Hidden Mesa Open Space, just north of Franktown. On July 6 there were nine singing birds, some on top of the mesa and some east of the mesa between its base and Cherry Creek. On July 26, I was able to confirm nesting at this site when I flushed a bird from a nest. The nest was located near the base of a yucca plant and held four white, unmarked eggs. There were birds singing on July 26, but less than on July 6. None were seen larking on July 26 (there was much larking on July 5); all singing was from perches.
