I spent the morning in Lake City, before heading up to American Basin. Both cemeteries where hoping today with Red-necked Sapsucker, all three nuthatches, a Downy Woodpecker, and a few Yellow-rumped Warblers (Myrtle). Driving through the neighborhoods on the north side of town, I came across a flock of 35 *Chipping Sparrows*. My plan next was to drive the Alpine Loop, but there was enough melting snow and mud to dissuade me. At about 10,000 feet I came across a flock of Pink-sided and Slate-colored Juncos, also possibly the most Gray Jays I have ever seen away from a picnic table. They must be queuing up for the hunters.
At American Basin, I caught a brief glimpse of what appeared to be a light-morph Harlan's Hawk. -- Todd Deininger Longmont, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
