SeEtta Moss reports a female Williamson's Sapsucker and a male Red-naped
Sapsucker at the Abbey in Canon CIty, on Nov 2.
The Abbey is located just off H50 (on the north side) about a mile west of
Walmart. The sapsucker is located in the place where sapsuckers have wintered
for the past several years in the pines near the large rectangular building
(old gym) just northwest of the DOC training academy. Directions: as you
drive into the Abbey (the church looms in front) the road divides; go to the
left and continue to the left going around the DOC training academy (well
signed); as the road turns back to the north the large rectangular building is
to the right (about a hundred feet).
Moss also reports another female Williamson's Sapsucker at Centennial Park in
Canon City.

Huerfano County:
-- Pauli and Paul Neldner had a bonanza day on October 30 at Lathrop State
Park, west of Walsenberg, with Long-tailed Duck at Martin Lake, Pacific Loon at
Horseshoe Reservoir and Surf Scoter at La Veta Town Lake.
Peterson's group found these birds independently, and also saw a Red-necked
Grebe at Martin.

Kilpatrick on October 31 & by Henwood on Nov 2.

Pacfic Loon (seen through at least 11/3 at the S Platte River delta on the
Jefferson County side) and a Lesser Black-backed Gull.

little east.

Reservoir, there were 2 Surf Scoters on Oct 30 (Peterson). Drummond found 4
Surf Scoters at Eleven Mile on Nov 2. (In other words if you check the water
bodies in Park County, you will find yourself at sites where Scoters, Swans,
Loons and Grebes have been seen recently).

Pueblo County:
-- Percival reports two female plumage Surf Scoters and one female plumage
Black Scoter at Pueblo Reservoir off the Sailboard Launching area on October
28. One female plumage Surf Scoter was seen on Nov 2 off North Picnic Road. He
notes that in the fall most scoters seem not to linger at Pueblo Reservoir, so
re-finding one is no picnic.
--On October 29 Silverman discovered a Winter Wren in Colorado City. He and
Percival saw the skulking wren on October 30 along Greenhorn Creek east of the
diversion gate. Photos were thought to confirm the ID as an "Eastern" Winter
Wren. The Carolina Wren seen a few days ago was not re-found, but may still be
lurking.

City Park, in the NE corner and east of the Duck Pond on Nov 3.
