Please contact her at towhee1 At live.com for details. Leatherman reported that the HOARY REDPOLL was seen on March 2 by many birders. Groat reported on March 10 that the HOARY REDPOLL continues to come to her feeder. *BOULDER COUNTY:* --9 Tundra Swans were reported by Hundertmark at Walden Ponds on March 2. Kaempfer reported 3 Tundra Swans at Valmont Reservoir on March 2. On March 5, Rynes reported 12 Tundra Swans at Cottonwood Marsh. On March 6, Waltman reported 12 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds and 12 Tundra Swans at Clover Basin Reservoir near Longmont. On March 9, Kaempfer reported 12 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds. On March 16, Komar reported 6 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds. On March 17, Stiles reported that the Tundra Swans are coming and going between Cottonwood Marsh and Valmont Reservoir. --On March 12, Waltman reported 7 Bohemian Waxwings at NE end of Sage Valley Rd. Directions: Take US 36 north out of Boulder towards Lyons, before Lefthand Canyon Dr, turn right (East) on Plateau Rd. Sage Valley is first left (North) turn. --A White-winged Dove was reported by Komar in the Gunbarrel area on March 16. *DELTA COUNTY:* --8 Tundra Swans were reported by Horn at Fruitgrowers Reservoir (also know as Hart's Basin) on March 5. On March 6, Fenton looked for the Tundra Swans at Fruitgrowers Reservoir but did not find them. But she found 8 Tundra Swans on a pond across G50 Rd from Escalante SWA, Hamilton tract on March 6. On March 10, Rick Harner reported 2 swans at Hart's Basin. On March 10, Robinsong reported a swan at Escalante SWA at G50 Rd. On March 11, Robinsong reported 2 swans at Fruitgrowers Reservoir. On March 12, Horn reported 3 Tundra Swans at Hart's Basin. *DENVER COUNTY:* --At Marston Reservoir on March 12, Tina Jones reported 1 ad Lesser Black-backed Gull, and 2 Thayer's Gulls (1 ad, 1 1-st cyc). *EL PASO COUNTY:* --A Varied Thrush was reported by Bonestroo at Kettle Lake #1 at the Air Force Academy on March 15. The bird was W of the lake. *GRAND COUNTY:* --In Kremmling on March 12, Filby reported 10 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches, 1 Black Rosy-Finch, and 25 Common Redpolls. --At a subdivision by CO 9 at S end of county (entrance road is names Spring Creek Road) 100+ Rosy-Finches including at least 5 Brown-capped were reported by Filby on March 12. *JACKSON COUNTY:* --In Walden on March 12, Filby reported 60 Common Redpolls and 10 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches. ** *JEFFERSON COUNTY:* -- The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at the Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported by Henwood on Oct 26 and present all winter, was seen again on March 11 by Henwood. --The Wheat Ridge Redpoll(s) have been showing up in late afternoon at the feeders at Bob Santangelo. One returned on March 14, and 5 came on March 17. His address is 3525 Estes. Please do NOT park in the driveway, but is okay to park in front of the driveway and get out of cars to see the feeder. *LARIMER COUNTY:* --A m PURPLE FINCH was reported by Sean Walters on the Larimer Campus of Front Range Community College on March 11. --A Varied Thrush has been visiting the back yard feeders of Ken Allen in Fort Collins since Jan 20. His address is 1719 Ticonderoga Dr. Please call first home: 970-225-0988 or cell: 970-443-8093. On March 17, Komar reported that the Varied Thrush was seen. --A mixed flock of waxwings was reported by Gaines by US Bank in Loveland on Buchanan Ave and 29th on March 12. There were a few Bohemians with the Cedar Waxwings. --150 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Kogler at Simpson Ponds SWA in Loveland on CR 9E on March 16. On March 17, 50 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Komar at Simpson Ponds SWA. --A Trumpeter Swan was reported by Komar on North Hoffman Lake in Loveland on March 16. The Trumpeter Swan was seen again on March 17 by Komar on North Hoffman Lake. --2 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Komar in Loveland on Denver Ave between Eisenhower and 1st on March 16. --60 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Bruening at Laurel and Whitcom across from the CSU campus in Fort Collins on March 18. --3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were reported by Sean Walters at Lake Loveland on March 18. *MORGAN COUNTY:* --A Tundra Swan was reported by Mlodinow at Jackson Reservoir on March 13. It is best viewed from the SWA on the N side. --4 White-throated Sparrows were reported by Mlodinow near the intersection of Bijou Creek and the South Platte River near Fort Morgan on March 13. *PITKIN COUNTY:* --At Snowmass on March 13, Filby reported 50 Brown-capped Rosy-Finches and 2 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches. *PUEBLO COUNTY:* --At Chico Basin Ranch (fee area), Drummond reported 3 Rusty Blackbirds at Rose Pond on March 14. *SUMMIT COUNTY:* --At Silverthorne on March 12, Filby reported 15 Barrow's Goldeneyes and 150+ Rosy-Finches. *WELD COUNTY:* --2 Red-necked Grebes were reported by Sheeter at Firestone Gravel pits on the pond closest to Hwy 119 on March 1. Kaempfer refound the 2 Red-necked Grebes at Firestone Gravel pits on March 16. --Mlodinow reported on March 5 that the Long-tailed Duck continues at Frederick Rec Area. Komar relocated the Long-tailed Duck at Frederick Rec Area on March 16. --15 Tundra Swans and 1 Trumpeter Swan were reported by Wild in Nunn on March 11. The location is on CR 108 between CR 31 and CR 33. On March 12, Leatherman reported 16 Tundra Swans at the pond N of Nunn and he heard Lapland Longspurs while viewing the swans on CR 108 E of CR 31. --At Black Hollow Reservoir on March 12, Komar reported an ad Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 sub ad Great Black-backed Gull, and 1 mystery Gull. At Black Hollow Reservoir on March 13, Mlodinow reported 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (3 ad, 1 sub ad, 1 1-st cyc), 1 ad Thayer's Gull, 1 ad MEW GULL, and 1 ad Glaucous Gull. On March 16 at Black Hollow, Mlodinow reported 1 ad Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 1 ad Thayer's Gull. --At Timnath Reservoir on March 16, Mlodinow reported a pr of Barrow's Goldeneyes. --A Thayer's Gull was reported by Komar at Windsor Lake on March 17. The DFO field trip for Saturday, March 23 will be to the Longmont Area led by Chris Owens (303-772-6048). This is a joint trip with Boulder Bird Club. Meet the leader at 0800 at Jim Hamm Natural Area parking lot. From I-25 take Exit 240. Go west 4 miles on CO 119 to Boulder/Weld County Line Road, then approximately 2 miles north to park on left at E 17th Ave. Bird until 1 or 2 pm. Walking will be held to a minimum, less than 2 miles, and we will drive from site to site. The DFO field trip for Sunday, March 24, will be to Barr Lake led by Mark Amershek and Bruce Neuman (303-329-8646 or mamers...@msn.com. Meet leader at the Nature Center at 0800. Half day trip, finshed by noon, or if the birds are good, by 1:00 pm. You will need a State Parks Pass or purchase a day pass at the entrance kiosk. Expect to walk no more than 2 miles.
