The Mt & Black-capped Chickadees, Pygmy Nuthatches, and a flock of Pine Siskins
are in my backyard as well; they don't show-up unless the sun is shining.
What's happening; what's going-on.

No camera; when I looked at the bird head-on, with sun in my eyes, the bird
appeared to have a buff-orange hue to its breast, exactly the color as seen in

HOWEVER, my book doesn't show the female as brown, and it was not a mallard
female.
The pair has been here all week; very distinctive call.
