I inspected Gary's gull photos near Drake Lake (Weld County). There is what
appears to a darker (slaty) gray-backed adult gull with pink legs in the
back of the flock in the seventh photo (the one with 4 pieces of farm
equipment in the background). Gary has a red arrow pointing to it. It is
sleeping with its head tucked in. It is Herring gull-sized, and with the
appearance of pink legs on my monitor, this would be a candidate for a rarer
gull in Colorado, such as Slaty-backed Gull, or Western Gull, or maybe a
Herring x Lesser Black-backed hybrid. Better photos would be needed to
identify it, but worth the effort. Other than this, there is a stand-out
adult Lesser Black-backed Gull (with yellow legs), but I am not seeing any
Great Black-backed Gull in the photos.
Drake Lake is located just south of CO Highway 14 in Weld County, just
southwest of the North Weld County Landfill, on CR23.

Drake Lake field about .3m south of Highway 14 (Severance-area) on
west was chockful of gulls this morning. In the photo album I used
red line/arrow to point out gulls that looked different from the Ring-
billed Gull reference point. I believe I might have shots of the
Great Black-backed Gull in foreground of 4-6 photos.
If you can ID some of them, please let me know.
