Dear Cobirders,
After an email from Nathan Pieplow this morning that there had been Evening Grosbeaks sighted in Ward, I headed up. By the time I had arrived at the Ward Community Church, it was snowing pretty hard. I was not disappointed — there were at least 35 Evening Grosbeaks in the treetops surrounding the Community Church as well as many Junco's, both Chickadees and a flock of noisy Steller's Jays. Given the heavy snow, I made my way over to Allenspark to check for Rosy-Finches. There were no Rosies, but there were many Cassin's Finches and American Crows. Interestingly, there was at least one bird in the trees behind the spring across the street that was giving an untrilled double coo similar to the call of Band-tailed Pigeon the entire time I was there. I never saw it, but it isn't impossible since a Band- tailed Pigeon overwintered here a few years back.

Cheers,
