For those of you who would like to see Evening Grosbeaks, but don’t want to

Chase around on a slim chance to some random tree in who-knows-where…..……

Friday 5/14 and again Wednesday 5/19, there are about 7-10 Evening Grosbeaks

Hanging out on old South Rd. (old St. Vrain Rd.) just east of the
intersection with

Red Gulch Rd. this is about ¼ mile southwest of Lyons, off Hwy 7.

Listen for the House Sparrow-like CHIRPS.

They seem pretty content there…and nearby are nest-gathering Cedar Waxwings
and

Migrating/feeding Western Tanagers, for a nice trifecta of spring beauty.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with it….Old South Road is worth walking
for the next

mile or so west…not much traffic at all.

Davis

at 6,009 ft., 4 miles NW of Lyons, in open Ponderosa
