Dear Cobirders,
I headed out this morning to try again for the Golden-crowned Sparrow
at Red Rocks Trading Post. Unlike last time, I only had to wait about 5
minutes before he appeared at the platform feeder. He hung around for a bit
before heading north into the "Native Plant Garden". When he finally
disappeared into the shrubs at around 9:15, I headed over to the Hawkwatch site
on Dinosaur Ridge. I was not disappointed there either. When I arrived at the
Hawkwatch gate, I could hear the Juniper Titmouse singing. He sang until about
9:45, and then remained in the trees immediately south of the Hawkwatch site in
the company of a male Downy Woodpecker. The only raptor I saw was one resident
Red-tailed Hawk surfing Dinosaur Ridge and the ridge immediately north of I-70.
