The story of the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron turning up at Glenmere Park in Greeley, then successfully mating with a Black-crowned has been intriguing to follow. These two species hybridize in the wild very rarely, though it has been noticed in zoos. A scientific description of a similar liaison is described in this article from Western Birds:
