Birders,

I drove down to Walden yesterday to check the water bodies there for Barrow's
Goldeneyes (BAGO) for RMBO's annual count. Walden Res had a nice surprise: 2
Trumpeter Swans to go with a pair of BAGOs and a few other ducks. Walden is
about half frozen and very low.

Arapaho NWR is basically dried up, and all I saw there were a few ravens and no
grouse. Seldom visited MacFarlane Res further south had open water, but only
white-cheeked geese.

FYI, I have been seeing good numbers of Snow Buntings in flocks of 4 and 5 here
in Carbon County, Wyo along with lots of C. Redpolls. Since Redpolls seem to be
everywhere in CO, I wouldn't be surprised if decent numbers of Snow Buntings
begin showing up there soon. Keep your eyes open!

Cheers,

Dan Maynard
