Hi all
Charles H mentioned spectacular Lark Buntings in a tree previously.
Yesterday, while doing my Weld CR 124 to Galeton weekend route I came
across numerous huge flocks of Lark Bunting. There were at least 2-3 flocks
numbering 80-100+ and about 6-8 more of 30-50+. Weld CR 124 still a giant
I was surprised to see a male Lark Bunting at the east end of Community
Gardens this morning. We don't see our State Bird very often in Boulder.
Also a flock of Lark Sparrows, several Clay-colored Sparrows, and 3
brilliant male American Goldfinches in the same small tree, looking like

A chilly, overcast morning with great birds! I was looking for a bobolink
around 6:30 AM where I've seen them in past years and instead saw a male
lark bunting on the fence - got great looks before he flew off. What a
treat, usually I have to go to the Pawnee to see them. Then seconds later
Hello CObirders,
Today north of Drake about 3 miles, a Lark bunting appeared on my deck rail,
where I had scattered some seed. I think he’s a long way from home. 8” snow
here. Happy birding – Dave Hyde/nr Drake, Larimer Cty

Today I deiced to explore Gilipn County some more and add to my life

Too bad it's neither a lark nor a bunting...

I was lucky to bump into Gene Fry while picking up my kids on 15th between
Spruce and Pine... In addition to the LABU there were Chipping and Clay-colored
Sparrows, Western Bluebird, Yellow-rumped Warbler and likely more...all very
busy feeding.
Ironically, I was taking a break from
Hello, Birders.
There was a decent night flight over Lafayette, eastern Boulder County, earlier
this morning, Wednesday, August 14th. I heard and audio-recorded many Chipping
Sparrows, a few Yellow Warblers, a few probable Brewer's Sparrows, and several
Lark Buntings. Winds were light and
Yesterday while searching for Western Tanagers we spotted a male Lark
Bunting in Rocky Mountain National Park at approx 8500' elevation in a
sagebrush meadow (Larimer Co). Weird! The same evening I heard a Long-eared
Owl calling at Hollowell Park.

Gunnison, left before
