As of Tuesday evening the Yellow-billed Cuckoos are still present in Louviers.I
believe there are at least three different birds spending time in the grove of
Boxelder trees that are infested with what Dave Leatherman has identified as
Fall Canker Worm. This bug is very uncommon in Colorado and it is amazing how
fast they can strip these trees. I have counted over 35 species of birds in
these trees, most eating these "inch worms", including the Cuckoos. I did get a
fair shot of one bird on my Flickr site.

T his Sunday, myself along with Jackie Sanderson of Douglas County Open Spaces,
will lead a bird walk to this grove which is in a part of the DuPont open space
not open to the public. We will meet at the Louviers Post Office(80131) at 7:00
A.M.
