Sunday, March 20th           Morgan County Hotspots

Time: 07:00 (DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS)  Meeting Place: Division of 
Wildlife - 6060 North Broadway – Exit I-25 at 58th Ave., go west 2 blocks to 
Broadway, then north 2 blocks to parking lot on right.  Trip description below 
written by Joe - We will carpool and head out to Jackson Reservoir, then hit 
other Morgan County Hotspots. Waterfowl can be plentiful at this time of 
year.  Birders are advised to call the leader before trip.  The trip will 
cater to birders of all levels of experience, from eager neophytes to jaded 
pros.  This will be an all-day trip, returning to the DOW around 5 PM, so bring 
lunch, water, snacks and a spotting scope if you have one.  Dress for 
weather. This trip is limited to eighty participants, so sign up early!


Tuesday, March 22nd         Fountain Creek Area & Big Johnson Reservoir - 
WEEKDAY!

Time: 08:30     Meeting Place: Fountain Creek Nature Center - 320 Pepper 
Grass Lane, Fountain, CO 80817.  Might we still find the Pine Warbler?  We'll 
see plenty of waterfowl, resident land birds, and possibly a few shorebirds 
while we explore the best birding locations in a park that lists over 290 
species.  Bring water, snacks, lunch, and binoculars.  Scopes are extremely 
helpful for birding at Big Johnson Reservoir.  A $5 donation or birdseed for 
the nature center is welcomed.  RSVP is appreciated especially for carpool 
options from Denver.  1/2 - 3/4 day trip depending on weather and birds.  
About the leader: Retired Fountain Creek Nature Center supervisor/naturalist 
with 45 years of birding experience.


Saturday, March 26th            Northwest Metro Lakes
Leader: Chuck Lowrie    Contact Information: 303-455-8417
Time: 09:00    Meeting Place: Sloan's Lake parking area on the SE corner of 
25th and Sheridan.  Full Day Trip.  Bring Lunch.  We’ll be looking for 
Blue-winged and Cinnamon Teal, Say's Phoebe and Meadowlarks plus other early 
migrants.  There will be quite a bit of walking (up to 3 miles) as we will 
visit lesser-known lakes.  If there is a lot of snow, we'll go to lakes that 
don't require walking or much walking and make it a shorter day. Please 
PRE-REGISTER with Chuck.  This trip is limited to 10 people.  Sign up quick to 
lock 
in your spot!  About the leader: Chuck is the current president of the 
Boulder Birding Club and has led combined DFO and BBC trips to the western 
slope 
and North Park.

from Colorado Springs.  More details will be given closer to the date.  
Warmer weather birding in March!  We’ll be birding Pinyon and riparian 
habitats, 
looking for Pinyon birds and waterfowl.  There will be extensive, but 
mostly easy walking (possibly up to 2 miles). Full day trip.  Please email Mark 
to register and to receive more information.  It should be a fantastic trip.
