Draining and dredging of Marston Lake's west side has improved gull viewing opportunities. Visible from the elevated levee near the intersection of (Old) S. Wadsworth Blvd, S. Upham Ct. and S. Webster Ct. is a new loafing area used by gulls throughout the day. This morning it hosted an imm. Glaucous Gull, and an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull as well the normal array of larids. Potential shorebird habitat is also present in the form of several new shallow ponds which have hosted killdeer and greater yellowlegs in the past week. For better viewing conditions, the afternoon lighting is best. Doug Kibbe Littleton
