Hello,
OK, so at my age I tend to think I’ve seen it all. But today we were treated to
a nonstop “river of robins” from 7 am to the time of this writing (5 pm) with
four drinking at the birdbath at all times, broken by about four 3-minute
intervals
during which some other birds managed to sneak in to bathe or drink. During one
hiatus four Pygmy Nuthatches dashed in to bathe vigorously, catching my eye;
our resident Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches rarely ever bathe.
While the Pygmies are a new yard bird for us, Yay,
it’s really the robins that have us flabbergasted. It’s been just astounding.
And they have been so very thirsty, drinking and drinking.
