*What is the Nikon / CFO Team ID Challenge?*

   - · In partnership with Nikon Sports Optics, the 2011 CFO
Convention in Grand Junction will update the Friday night tradition of
“Stump the Chumps,” introducing an interactive “pub quiz” format. Teams
of convention-goers will identify birds by sight and sound, competing
against one another for Nikon prizes, and learning from one another about
   birds in the process.

*When and where?*

   - · In the Kokopelli room of the Grand Junction Doubletree Hotel,
   7:30 – 9:00 PM, this Friday, May 20.

*How do I get on a team?*

   - · Just come in and sit at a table. Your tablemates will be
   your teammates!

*Can I form my team in advance?*

   - · Absolutely. However, to keep all teams competitive, we’re
asking CFO board members and Colorado Bird Records Committee members (past
and present) to spread themselves out – no more than 2 such people per team!

*What will the level of difficulty be?*

   - · Hard enough to be a challenge and a learning opportunity, but
easy enough to be fun for ALL participants. All bird species in the
challenge will be regular in Colorado, NOT species on the CBRC review list.

*Can I use binoculars and field guides?*

   - · Yes! Bring your binoculars so that you can better see
details on the big screen. Field guides are welcome too, as long as they
are made of paper – NO electronic devices allowed during the quiz (that
means no iPods, cell phones, iPhones, no internet access, no audio).

*What are the prizes?*

   - · Mike Freiberg, Nikon Sports Optics representative, has
arranged for some fancy prizes for the winning team!

Hope to see many of you in Grand Junction on Friday night! Please feel free
to contact me with questions.
