Today, while leading a Mass Audubon Society group, we came across 57
Long-billed Curlews; 9 were along Hwy 14 past CR 67 and 48!! ( counted
separately by 2 people) just beyond the circular water trough at CR's 63/94.
There were also a minimum 5 Burrowing Owls at this location.

We had two Mountain Plovers (also seen copulating) at NW corner of CR's 96/69
in the area where the terrain starts to rise (poss. the so-called burn area).
We were able to get some other birders on the plovers. There was also a
Killdeer in the area.

Other birds of interest included McCown's Longspurs, Ferruginous Hawk, 8
Burrowing Owls, Loggerhead Shrikes and a Rock Wren. The two lakes off of CR77
just north of PNG had 17 species of waterfowl, 40+ White-faced Ibis and Am.
Pipit as well as both species of Yellowlegs.

I will enter on eBird the full list of species seen.
