Hello All,
Rob Raker and I had a fun morning at Belmar Park in Lakewood. We
birded the area around the small lake on the west side of Kountze
Lake, and found the two Palm Warblers hanging out together. In
addition, we had a male Black-throated Blue Warbler (think there might
be two, but only got a good look at one). Lots of Yellow-rumped
Warblers of all descriptions - Audubon's, Myrtle, male, female, first
year birds. We ran into Joe Roller who joined us in looking at the
pair of Palm Warblers (about the 3rd time we found them), and then
Mark Chavez. Joe & Mark were still birding when we left about 11:00
a.m.
In addition, early in the morning we saw a juvenile Black-crowned
Night Heron standing on the shore in good light. The juvenile bird
had light green legs and some greenish coloring around the neck and
bill area. I have never seen
a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron with so much green shading.
Hopefully Rob got a picture and we can post it.
