Looks like the magic time on Thursday to see the Prothonotary today was
9:30. Three visitors timed it right and arrived soon after we found the
bird a little east of where it has most often been seen. It was just about
20 feet beyond where our new sanctuary fence ends in the River Birch on the
lake side of the trail before it disappeared again..

Which, by the way, reminds me to extend a huge public thank you to the Rocky
Mountain Bird Observatory who matched the funds that we had collected from
the town of Estges Park and the Bureau of Reclamation to build a fence
around a large portion of the Matthews-Reeser Sanctuary to prevent the elk
from completely destroying the the habitat in the sanctuary. A 3200 linear
foot fence now encircles the north side of the sanctuary. We locals and
many visitors will now be able to enjoy this prime birding habitat for many
years. I hope all the recent visitors were also appreciative of this fence.
 THANK YOU RMBO.
