I stopped at Ramah SWA last week and saw only a Red-tailed Hawk
sitting in a tree near the new trail that was recently put in. Does
anyone know why there is no water there any more? Last year, while
certainly not full, the pond had adequate water to attract a good
assortment of ducks and

Bob Bonestroo and I birded between Falcon and Ramah State Wildlife Area this
morning and saw 40 species.
The is a very nice wetland just east of the Falcon Safeway that had among
others a Great Egret and 3 Great-tailed Grackles. The Falcon area Meadow Lake
Ranch Heron Rookery
We had a great morning birding at Ramah State Wildlife area today.
Highlights:
Two singing Dickcissels, one of them giving great photo ops. Two beautiful
Red-headed Woodpeckers. Well over 100 Black Terns. A Caspian Tern fly-by. The
following shorebirds: Solitary, Least, Spotted, Baird’s, Wester
