Quite the raptor show going on right now in our yard--Sharp-shinned
Hawk swooped through our backyard and grabbed a House Sparrow; Red-
tailed Hawk gave chase to a ground squirrel (who barely made it to its
hole; at least four different Northern Harriers have buzzed through
our front and back yard in search of dinner--two of them making passes
no more than 20 feet outside my office window (and 20 feet above
ground level); and two male American Kestrels are competing for the
"heart" of a female kestrel above our nestbox trying to "prove"
themselves by chasing the passing harriers-twice harriers have landed
in the prairie dog colony across from us and directly below the
nestbox which didn't make any of the three kestrels too happy--
relentlessly dive-bombing them until they left the area.

We've now seen two Coyotes the last two mornings (8-9am-ish) in our
field--this morning they were about 20 feet behind out back fence--
nice lookin' coyotes.

We've also seen the return of what we call our "Funny Farm" (movie)
ducks-a mallard pair for whatever reason seems to appear each spring
(last two years)--nearest water is Crom Lake about seven miles south.

Thanks
