I arrived at Bel Mar around 7 this morning hoping to pick up these birds as early as possible. Things started slow with a chickadee and some house finches. I walked some laps around the buildings and continued to go back and forth between the lake and the 3 suet feeders that are hanging around Buildings 620 and 640.
Finally around 8:05 one Yellow-rumped Warbler flew in to the NW corner of the lake from the SE. Another showed up about 10 minutes later. Then finally at about 8:20, both the Prairie Warbler and the Yellow-throated Warbler showed up within a minute of each other. All Warblers flew into this area from the SE, over the island. I had concentrated my efforts the last two evenings on the areas around the west side of the apartment complexes, but if anyone is hoping to get these birds in the evening, I would suggest exploring some areas to the SE. The Say's Phoebe was also observed this morning perching and moving around on the building directly north of the lake.
