Yesterday morning while proceeding to work from Shields Osprey nest I saw
about 30-40 vultures ascending into thermals in and around Mountain-quite a
sight.

I drove by the FC Turkey Vulture roost area this evening (8 April 2014)
about 6:45, saw 15-20 circling and landing in the trees on Mountain. A
block south on Washington, though...there had to be a hundred.

Made a quick stop at the roost this evening (6:40) and saw 9 TV's - I'm
sure there's more - in the traditional roost on Mountain Ave. Around the
corner on Washington, about mid block, East side I saw a dozen vultures in
the tall spruces. It's amazing how easily they meld into the limbs.

Similar tree removal has occurred at the traditional roosts in Boulder and
Longmont. The vultures were quite adaptable - moving to other trees in the
area of the original roost, or a block or two away. Continuous use of the
spruce trees by the birds gives the trees a characteristic bare branch
