My wife and I birded 2 days in SE Colorado and had some nice birds. It was nice
to be back there after a few years hiatus of raising our kids. Below are the
hilights...

BLANCA FEEDERS: Lazuli Bunting
LATHROP ST PARK: Northern Parula, Green Herons (possibly 2 of them), Plumbeous
Vireo, Osprey
ROCKY FORD: Green heron
HASTY CAMPGROUND: Indigo Buntings (2), Northern Parula, White-winged Dove,
Swainson's Thrush, Warbling Vireo, Cl colored Sparrow
LAMAR CC: Red-bellied Woodpacker, Cardinal
TWO BUTTES: Summer Tanager, Black-and-white Warbler (female), Swainsons Thrush,
Cl Colored Sparrows, Dusky Flycatcher

Big disappointment was seeing the fire effects on Lyons "Wood Thrush" Grove and
"Elms" which were toasted by the recent fires. I realize this is just part of
the ecological cycle but it sure put a temporary to long-term set back for
these areas as bird migration stopover places. Lots of trees were lost and I
suspect much of this area will revert to grasslands.

Nice to visit with many friends down there....Norm, Joey, Ric, Joe, Dick, and
the others. Good birding all.
