Birders,

As I did last year, this summer I will be living in Estes Park (Larimer County)
while I work at the Trail Ridge Store in Rocky Mountain National Park. Since I
do not have a car or a driver's license, I'm hoping to find one or more birding
companions from places nearby with whom I can go on birding excursions with,
preferably to areas further away where the bird life is somewhat different.
(Last year I was basically confined to Estes and the east side of Rocky, except
for brief trips to the Boulder and Golden areas.)

Besides the car, the ideal birding companion for me would also have a flexible
schedule, since my days off could easily fall on weekdays instead of weekends.
If anyone is interested, I have a short list of hoped-for birds, some of them
lifers, others being birds for my Colorado list that I somehow missed last
summer. Areas within a reasonable distance that I'm particularly interested in
exploring are northeastern Colorado (Pawnee for longspurs and other prairie
birds, Tamarack for eastern species) and the Pueblo region (for Scaled Quail
and other desert species).

I'm happy to pitch in money for gas on these carpools, if necessary. I also
understand if no one is able to provide a convenient carpool, seeing as Estes
is mainly a tourist town and most of those who offered last year were from
Boulder or Fort Collins. I will be arriving in Colorado (from my native
California) next Friday, May 19, with a busy weekend and first week of work to
follow, so I do not yet know when my first days off will occur, but if any
nearby Colorado borders able and willing to take me exploring this summer, feel
free to contact me.

Thanks,
John Oliver
