Folks- Ted Floyd called me last night about a suspicious distant dowitcher
he had yesterday at Teller Lake #5 east of Boulder (listing #25 here:
http://coloradocountybirding.com/county/bird_a_county.php?name=Boulder).
We met up early today and had the bird close pre- sunrise on the near
(north) shore, a nice Juv. Short-billed Dowitcher. In seemingly bummer
fashion, it departed with its cohort of Lesser Yellowlegs a few minutes
before sunrise, gone as long as we continued to bird there. Good news,
though. On a whim I swung back through after birding Walden Ponds for a few
hours (nothing major there to note on my list), and Shorty was back, now by
itself on the south shore. Among other salient features, this is one of the
shortest-billed dowitchers I've seen.

Thanks, Ted!

Enjoy- Bill Schmoker, Longmont
