Uncle Van Truan (who is recently retired) and I found a few interesting
migrants and other birds today in SE Colorado, in Kiowa, Prowers, and Bent
Counties mostly.

We didn't have much luck with rarer mountain birds, though we did find
single Mountain Chickadees in both Kiowa County and Bent County, two
Woodhouse's Scrub-Jays in Bent County, a Golden-crowned Kinglet and Brown
Creeper in Bent County, Pine Siskins in Kiowa, Bent, and Prowers Counties,
Red-breasted Nuthatches in Kiowa and Bent, "Interior West" White-breasted
Nuthatch in Bent County.

Eastern bird highlights and other stuff: Blue-headed Vireo, "Western" Palm
Warbler, juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Red-bellied Woodpecker,
Neotropic Cormorant all in Bent County. Eastern Phoebe, Chestnut-collared
and McCown's Longspurs, juvenile Northern Shrike, in Kiowa County.
Nashville Warbler, "eastern" White-breasted Nuthatch, Northern Cardinal,
and a very yellow/green small empidonax in Prowers County. Sandhill Cranes
were flying by in several locations.
