Maybe there is a Townsend's trend, as I enjoyed one, too, this evening. An
adult male appeared with a neat little warbler flock in my backyard, with
11 Yellow-rumpeds (Myrtle, Audubon's and Myrtlebon's) and my first
Orange-crowned Warbler of the season.
By the way, here is a neat Ken Caryl Ranch

Hello, the Townsend's warbler is one of my favorite birds and I have heard
that it is a bumper year for them. Does anyone have any recommendations on
where I should go to see them and to get decent photography opportunities
with them in Larimer county?
Thanks!

Just now (15 minutes ago) had a Townsend Warbler in the back yard,
contemplating our "bubbling boulder" fountain from an ornamental cherry above.
Both a new yard bird and yes (!) a new life bird for me.

Hi Everyone,
On my way home from Kansas this weekend, I stopped at the Lamar Community
College Woods this morning 4/21. At the north end, I saw a male Townsends
Warbler and a male Orange-crowned Warbler (he kindly showed me his orange
crown; it was one of the brighter subspecies) among the
Hi COBirders,
There was a good migrant arrival at dawn this morning, at Clear Spring Ranch.
Frenetically feeding in a couple of tamarisks were several Ruby-crowned
Kinglets, Audubon’s Yellow-rumped Warblers, and a male Townsend’s Warbler
(FOS). Later the snag was visited by a male Red-naped
At the cemetery at the Veterans Center at Home Lake (Rio Grande County), Lisa
and I found a male Townsend’s Warbler. This represents one of just a few spring
records for the species in the San Luis Valley. At our home, we counted 32
species of birds today as birds were on the move throughout
Not even close as exciting, as the Swainson's Warbler seen in Bent County
yesterday (Great find!).
I saw a male Townsend's Warbler in the Osprey Picnic Area, in Rock Canyon,
below Pueblo Reservoir dam, before 8am this morning. It was with a flock of
Yellow-rumpeds, and a Plumbeous Vireo.
We had a total of 15 birders participate in our Alamosa bird trip. The day
started out sunny and not too breezy. Immediately, at the Alamosa Cemetery, we
found the bird of the day...A male Townsend’s Warbler (Alamosa County), amongst
an Orange-crowned and a Yellow-rumped Warbler. Townsend’s
While birding with the DFO Field Trip this morning in Pueblo, we saw a male
Townsend's Warbler. It was in the tall cottonwood trees, along the paved bike
trail, below Pueblo City Park, and east of the footbridge, along the north side
of the Arkansas River. The pair of Eastern Phoebes
A lucky brake from my bike ride produced a spankin' Townsend's Warbler along
the Coal Creek trail between Vista Pointe and old town Erie.
The bird was in a couple of cottonwoods right next to the creek, just west of
the gas well next to the trail.

Hello,
Nothing fancy here, I bird in the city. On 5/19 I had (2) Townsend's
Warblers at Bear Creek Greenbelt, an uncommon spring migrant yet common
autumn migrant. Other birds of note:
Yellow Warbler:
5/5 Centennial Park (1)
5/16 Rocky Mountain Arsenal (1)
5/18 Belmar Park (3)
5/19 Bear Creek
I just returned from a 4-day backpack patrol as a Poudre Wilderness Volunteer
for the USFS in the Rawah Wilderness. There was a major migration of
Townsend's Warbler through the Medicine Bow Range on Friday and Saturday, but I
saw nary a one on Sunday or today. They were seen between 9500 and
I took a hike through Lory State Park today and had a lot of bird activity with
all the juveniles out.
I had one male Townsend's Warbler in with a group of nuthatches and chickadees.
I know this isn't an early date for them, but it is the earliest for me. Just a
quick note to keep an eye out
