COBirds,
Been wandering various county roads in various directions from my home in
Milliken off and on over the last week (Jan. 3, 5, 8, 9 for a couple/few
hours in the afternoon) just exploring and hoping to find one of those rare
white owls that seem to be irrupting this winter. No luck with
Duh! Grasshopper Sparrow. VERY different from the ones on Marshall Mesa in
Boulder.

Greetings All,
I decided to head east from Longmont rather than west this afternoon, and went
to Union Reservoir.
Highlights were one female SURF SCOTER and one RED-NECKED GREBE (probably juv).
Both (in the afternoon) would be best observed from the Longmont city park on
the sw. shore. If you f
I had a fly-over gull this afternoon at the water tank NE of Windsor Res that
APPEARED to be a Thayer's due to the appearance of the primaries. I could not
make out any other helpful field marks on the bird. It was mixed in with
Ring-billeds, so no Herring to compare it to. (Plenty of Herrings o
One Northern Shrike was at the fenced substation just SW of CR 122 x CR 101.
Plumage appeared adult- like, but the lower mandible had much paleness to it. I

miles east of here.

Greetings All,
Jerry Ligouri has identified the Union Reservoir RTHA mentioned in my last post
as a Krider's. It has a typical Krider's tail, and the underparts are quite
Krider's like. The patagial bar is atypically prominent. The bird was just
north of the pay-to-enter park (County?) on the
Birders,
Today I took a friend to the grasslands in search of a Mountain Plover, and
actually found one. It was in a plowed field on the south side of the road
west of Grover and east of WCR 77. There were some piles of dirt by the
gate to the field. It was at the south end of the field.

Yesterday, 2/5, I tried again for the RS Hawk at Windsor. This time I had it

most gratifying look.
