I don’t have anything unusual to report other than the unusual numbers a birds
I saw hiking in Mueller state park today. It might simply be unusual because I
wasn’t expecting to see many birds today.
I hiked on Outlook Ridge, a trail that starts near the visitor center.

Crossbill/Nuthatch trips. Saturday we explored some roads in Elbert County,
north of Colo. 86; Comanche Creek, Ridge Road, CRds 150 & 122, and various

I watched 3 Red Crossbill eating grit from the dirt lot at south Heil
Valley Ranch this week and it reminded me of a winters day some years past
watching a sizeable flock of White winged Crossbill pecking away at a

Yesterday, Feb. 13, Urling & I visited the cemetery & park in Elizabeth.
Crossbills continue.
While at the Cemetery, we talked to a man who lives across the street, on the
south by the walk-in gate, who has feeders. He had lots of birds hanging
around, including Red Crossbills, Downy Woodpeck
I had a flock of 20 red crossbills in my yard and in the birdbath this
afternoon about 2:00,they were in the top of trees and in my birdbath for
about 15 minutes... glad that I looked out at the moment!
