Hi all,
A bird drove me from my bed this morning as it had a different call. I spent
nearly an hour trying to find the little bugger and finally did. It had a weak
central breast spot with fine streaking around it. Lower breast was clear and
grayish tinged. Head was rusty to brown striped. Bill was more fine and
seemed grayish until it sang and then I could see yellow (inside of mouth?).
The call was 3-4 shorter notes followed by an ascending trill. Tail had a
slight notch. My overall impression was that it was grayish with finer
streaking. I did not get to see it's back, it was facing me. Call was not a
Lincoln, Song nor any other sparrow that I could find that had a breast spot.

Any ideas? I feel it is something common but it is just stumping me,
especially with the song combined with the markings.

Thanks for the help! Oh, did get to see a yellow rumped warbler in the
process. Nothing fantastic but for my house sparrow predominant yard it was
nice to see. Oh, also saw a flycatcher briefly but have no idea which it was.
Seemed to big for a least.

Happy birding,
