I thought that I would point out that fall begins on September 23rd which is
more than a month away. That would make Ted's Wilson Warbler a "normal"
summer migrant. As long established on Cobirds, birds can begin their
migration to the winter grounds in both the summer and the fall (which begs
the question when Little Stints show up in California in July why we are not
out canvasing the eastern plains reservoirs instead of working on our county
lists). This will be viewed as a personal idiosyncrasy, but there is
nothing more annoying than to be basking in the long awaited dog days of
summer and have someone attempting to rush the next season upon us
prematurely!

This would probably be a good point to ask the more knowledgeable birders
out there just when does post breeding dispersal end and migration begin?

I think of the Wilson's Warbler as the first of the "normal" fall migrants
to be heard at night over Boulder County. (All those Chipping Sparrows, Lark
Buntings, Upland Sandpipers, and such...they're awesome, but they're all
part of our "summer migration," if you will.)
