Make sure you're not using asynchronous saving with NSPersistentDocument.
I assume I do that by returning NO in -
(BOOL)canAsynchronouslyWriteToURL:(NSURL *)url ofType:(NSString *)typeName
forSaveOperation:(NSSaveOperationType)saveOperation ?
NSPersistentDocument override this
