To get a NSBitmapImageRep from a NSImage, have a look at the Reducer sample
code at location :
http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/Reducer/listing16.html
file : ImageReducer.m
routine : BitmapImageRepFromNSImage
at the end of the file.
