It doesn't seem to work at this point. The
major.minor version 48.0 is refering to the version of the .class file.
They made some structural changes to the way that .class files are laid out
internally, thus breaking them in certain cases and with certain
compilers(JBuilder4 for example -
I have this error as well, I am unable to compile any of the recent versions
on my machine. I have to use the prebuilt jar to get it running, and this
with either 1.3.1 or 1.4.0 - I have tried both.

Hi. Actually my previous post was slightly incorrect. The stack
trace I showed comes up under jdk1.3.1 but not j2sdk1.4.0. The j2sdk1.4.0
version throws a whole bunch of class file version is too recent errors.
