(1) Solution found: We placed the part *within* the *root*
tag. Now it works. Oviously our fault.
However: When I enclose the output in an arbitrary tag in my XSL
stylesheet, it also works, although the part is not in
a tag; but the tag is in the output, of course. And that was the
