Makerspace Manager - Charles Library - (22000888) Temple University Libraries serves the Temple community and beyond, including close to 40,000 students; over 2,000 full-time faculty; and researchers and visitors on Main, Center City, and Health Sciences Center campuses in Philadelphia and on our Ambler and Harrisburg campuses. Reporting to the Academic Information Technology and Support Technician (AITST) in the Loretta C. Duckworth Scholars Studio, the Makerspace Manager enlists best practices in library maker space implementation and is responsible for providing an interdisciplinary learning environment and a culture of critical making and innovation. In collaboration with the AITST, assists in the planning and coordination of maker-based research projects and related programming. Other major responsibilities include makerspace programming, supports faculty and students in grant work overseen by the AITST, coordinates the use of hardware and software tools, provides training and technical assistance, generates reports, and defines milestones in support of the library’s strategic plan. Manages and maintains the physical area and equipment of the library’s makerspace. Handles the training of students, faculty, and staff in the safe use of making methods, materials, and equipment. Performs related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor of Fine Arts or other art related degree or Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field and two years of comprehensive experience in a makerspace environment. 3D modeling experience. Demonstrated experience with a variety of digital fabrication tools (3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC, etc.). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: *Ability to create an approachable, beginner-friendly, experience-oriented atmosphere for patrons *Excellent verbal and written communication skills. *Ability to learn and understand the digital devices Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment. *Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities in managing timelines. *Demonstrated strong analytical skills. *Ability to work independently and innovatively with minimal direction.
