Oh jeez, I'm not sure I'd suggest AutoCat. Even I can't bear that.
But the RDA-L list has a fair amount of discussion that still dusts
off the traditional issues and tries to figure out what sill matters.

For sure dc:relation works, and has some subproperties that a bit more
specific, but it's still pretty much a blunt instrument. I know I sound
like a broken record, but RDA has a LOT of relationships to choose
from--these are the WEMI-to-WEMI relationships:

Dublin Core actually dealt with this about five years ago and has a
section in its guidelines about the issue:

There has also been a fair amount of discussion on this on the

As some of you know, the RDA registrars have been working with the
Deutsche Nationalbibliothek to enable a German language translation of
the RDA elements and vocabularies to be available using the same

the onus over to the user to keep up with changes in their
Hi, Jonathan,
Two points as you search out a solution:
1. I agree with your assessment of the current RDA carrier vocabulary.
You might want to look at the RDA/ONIX vocabularies (still not
registered, but there are plans to do so:

Jakob:
I'm glad you're interested in RDA and think it's a step in the right
direction. I'd like to update you on a few issues you mention in your
post, however, which I hope will reassure you a bit.
