We should officially support it in Hadoop (one piece of BIGTOP-458 which is for supporting it across the whole stack). Now that HADOOP-8370 (fixes native compilation) is in the full tarball should work. A good next step would be updating JAVA_HOME on one of the Hadoop jenkins jobs to use jdk7.
