Speaking very honestly, I don't use my Freerunner in daily use but I
use my 1973 with Qtopia since it's pretty stable and functional. There
are several ways to get involved with Openmoko development without a
Freerunner, like in Qemu or Xepher or whatnot. I'm sure

I also did some testing with all the pieces of hardware the freerunner has.
The GPS is very disappointing. I could get a fix in about 2 minutes with my
Neo1973 with a cold start.
This works inside my car (maybe a bit slower), at my room's window (bit

Data rates are rather high for my tastes. I could do a daily dump.

nope. signature files seem to be non-existent, opkg probably checks for
them by default.
the miss of Packages.gz is more worrisome, because opkg computes the list
of available packes from it.

The fact that the .gz files didn't download means your /etc/resolv.conf
doesn't point to a valid DNS server.
The signature files are definitely missing though, and should be corrected.

sadly doesnt). will try to find out next time i get near that sim.

An interesting idea would be to acquire a fix, then bring the phone
under cover, so it loses the fix, then bring it back in the open and
see how long it will take to reacquire the fix.
