look at the output of dmesg, maybe it connects as eth1 instead of usb0.
Mine connects as usb0 the first time I attach it, and the second time it is
eth1. I run Debian testing.
If that does not help, please attach the relevant output of dmesg, this may
provide more information.

Instead of looking at dmesg I suggest looking at the output of ip
link show and there for mac addresses that begin with 00:1f:11:01:

I think it's the CPU which is around 90% already at 2fps.
Another problem is, that the mpeg stream sometimes seems to be corrupt
which crashess mplayer after some time.
So I did a 'while true; do mplayer...; done' around and set codecs and
