Populated IrDA?

I see in the tech specs of the FreeRunner that the CPU has IrDA built in, but I cant find anything listed in the specs that shows it as being used. However I saw a youtube interview the other day that I believe had a passing mention about it being available for use. Could someone please let me know

Ok so we have passed the original due date for the phase 1. We have passed the original due date for the phase 1+. And now even more confusing we have a phase 2? without a due date at all. The only due date we have is in Sept which will be phase "something"... So I was curious if there is ANY clar
