I've seen there has been some discussion on using Android on
Freerunner or Replicant on GTA04 phones [1]. There has even been some
success at running Android under QtMoko or SHR using chroot, but it
seems no one has looked at integrating it within the SHR build system.

I've been holding off on buying a FreeRunner until until it seemed
sufficiently problem-free to me.
$250 is a very appealing price. I just wanted to confirm my

I'm using the latest FDOM, I believe it's based on 2008.09. My question is
what is the fundamental difference between pressing the power button to
cause the phone to suspend, pressing the aux button to make the phone lock
the screen and not pressing any buttons and letting the software timeout.

i think "basic stuff" is subjective.
for example, i just need :
1. send / receive phone calls
2. send / receive text messaging
3. battery life
but obviously this wont be the same for everyone.

Have you tried re-seating the card? Perhaps the contacts are not meeting up.
When I inserted mine, I slid the SIM into the metal piece while it was
vertical, then closed it. To lock the metal piece, you have to slide it a
little.

Last we heard, the phones were in customs as they were being air-mailed to

You should not have any problem getting GPRS to work as long as you are using
their regular service. AFAIK, only their PREPAID service has the access to
GPRS restricted.
