to hear some official
statement about the license status for the GPS chip before jumping to
premature conclusions but currently it seems that DGPS will not be possible
with the Freerunner.

So even if it's a supported feature we can not really be sure if the firmware
on the chip allows us access to the RAW messages :(
I guess we'll have to wait until somebody interested in this topic receives
his/her own Freerunner...

someone is paranoid enough he could probably make it
very hard to open the case (-> superglue ;o)
And if the thief does not turn off the phone, we could still trigger the
THEFT_IN_PROGRESS mode by a coded SMS message.

Another idea would be to use the accelerometers as a method of text entry in
combination with dasher [1] - similar to this [2].
Could turn out to be a lot easier than using a small on-screen keyboard...

which would be
interested in such a Cooperative Differential GPS project for the FreeRunner
(not to mention the great benefit for all users of an actual working CDGPS
infrastructure) but for a start we would have to answer the question above.

states on page 14 that, "RAW message support
requires an additional license" which makes me wonder if the FreeRunner will
have the ability to query the raw information needed or not!?!
